Systemy informacji zarządczej nie są nowym zjawiskiem. Wręcz przeciwnie, rejestrowanie informacji finansowych jest najstarszą znaną formą prowadzenia dokumentacji, sięgającą tysięcy lat wstecz. Jednak informacje finansowe od dawna stanowią problem, zwłaszcza od czasu wynalezienia pieniądza. Rządy krajów rozwijających się coraz częściej poszukują metod i systemów modernizacji i usprawnienia zarządzania finansami publicznymi. W Kenii większość spółdzielczych kas oszczędnościowo-kredytowych (SACCO) boryka się z wieloma przeszkodami w swoich systemach zarządzania z powodu nieefektywnego wdrożenia zintegrowanych systemów informacji finansowej (IFIS) w swoich instytucjach.Wyniki niniejszego badania umożliwią urzędnikom w SACCO oraz innych instytucjach finansowych, takich jak giełda papierów wartościowych, określenie skuteczności wdrożenia systemu informatycznego i sprawdzenie jego zdolności do nadążania za nowymi zmianami w branży bankowej. Ponadto badanie pomoże SACCO w rozwoju usług informacyjnych poprzez poprawę jakości informacji przy użyciu zintegrowanych systemów informacji finansowej, dzięki czemu SACCO będą w stanie sprostać rosnącym wyzwaniom i konkurencji ze strony międzynarodowych banków.
