Os materiais compostos estão na moda atualmente devido à sua resistência à corrosão e propriedades mecânicas melhoradas. O conteúdo do livro centra-se principalmente no desenvolvimento de materiais compostos de metal ou liga fabricados utilizando a liga ZA-27 reforçada com partículas de quartzo, que são produzidas através de uma técnica de metalurgia de fusão líquida utilizando o método de vórtice. Após a fabricação, os compósitos são submetidos a vários testes de corrosão, que incluem corrosão sob tensão, teste potenciostático, teste galvanostático, teste de potencial em circuito aberto e testes de corrosão por perda de peso estático. Antes de realizar todos esses testes, foi realizada uma extensa pesquisa bibliográfica e constatou-se que o compósito atual não foi preparado em nenhum outro lugar. Após a realização dos testes, verificou-se que os compósitos reforçados com partículas de quartzo da liga de zinco-alumínio-27 são mais adequados do que a liga de zinco-alumínio-27. Por conseguinte, os compósitos podem ser utilizados em ambientes ácidos, alcalinos e salinos, de modo que os componentes fabricados com estes compósitos tenham uma vida útil mais longa. Mesmo em ambiente marinho, os compósitos são mais adequados do que as ligas.
