Young Yannako didn’t mind the snake bite he got no thanks to Pappou, his reckless grandfather. The trip to the villages of the Othris mountain range was a just reward. Nor was he going to let a punch in the gut by the village’s bad boy Red, diminish the fun he was having with his new mate Vasili. Not to mention falling in love, or was it lust, with Dimitra.During a second visit, disaster struck the travelling party of Pappou, Yannako and a few mates even before their destination was reached. A disaster that turned a few boys to men, when confronted by circumstances that demanded life and death decisions. This story is about a boy, Yannako, growing up in rural Greece in the ’60s, exploring friendship, love, lust and sex (an adolescent obsession with sex) and the ugliness of suicide albeit presumed, eventually to be thrown into the whirlwind of his life being turned on its head, capped by the family’s forced migration. He learns about life from two very diverse role models while his love for his grandfather comes at a high price. The loss of his innocence.
