Parmi les technologies disponibles pour la récupération de l’eau, l’une des plus utilisées est l’adsorption, un processus basé sur la capacité de certains solides à éliminer les substances solubles. C’est pourquoi des matériaux précurseurs à forte teneur en carbone ont été testés comme adsorbants. L’objectif de cette étude était de tester la capacité d’adsorption de la biomasse obtenue à partir de déchets de yerba mate consommés, en comparant l’activation par pyrolyse seule avec l’activation par ZnCl2 et la pyrolyse ultérieure. Les métaux testés étaient Cu2+, Pb2+ et Ni2+, qui peuvent nuire à la santé s’ils sont ingérés à des concentrations élevées. Il a été observé que, parmi les métaux étudiés, le cuivre est celui qui se prête le mieux à l’élimination de l’eau, avec une élimination de près de 100 % en utilisant le charbon actif par pyrolyse seule. Ce procédé a également montré la constante de Freundlich la plus élevée (Kf) de 203,0 mg.g-1.
