Xha Gorio (fr. Père Goriot) është një nga kryeveprat e shkrimtarit frëng Honore de Balzak i vitit 1835, përfshirë në ndarjen Scènes de la vie privée të romanit të gjatë La Comédie humaine. I vendosur në Parisin e 1819, ndjek jetët e gërshetuara të tre karaktereve, plakun e moçëm Gorio, një krimineli në arrati të quajtur Vautrin dhe një studenti drejtësie naiv të quajtur Evgjen de Rastinjak.Ngjarja vendoset ne 'Pensionin Familiar ' pronë e trashëguar e vejushës zonja Voker.Në këte shtëpi qëndronin pleqë e të rinjë duke paguar një shumë mujore sipas marrëveshjes, mes të cilëve ishte edhe Xha Gorio, një pasanik që kishte krijuar kapitalin e tij duke shitur fide e makarona. Banor dhe personazh tjetër me rëndësi është edhe Eugjeni, një djalosh i ri e ambicioz që studionte drejtësi me ndihmën e të ardhurave të pakta nga familja dhe i cili dëshironte të ishte i pasur. Ambicia e tij e dërgon atë në ujëra të rrezikshme e të panjohura deri kur takohen me Votrenin nje hajn profesionist qe merrej vetem me vjedhjen e shumave të mëdha. Ky i fundit i kishte sugjeruar Eugjenit të martohej me Vikotorinen vajzën e një konti sepse po i ndodhi diçka vëllait të saj, ajo do ishte trashëgimtarja dhe ai do arrinte qëllimin e tij, në anën tjetër Votreni kishte planifikuar prej kohësh ë vriste birin e kontit. Në anën tjetër Xha Gorio kishte dy vajza të cilave ua kishte kushtuar jetën mirëpo ato nuk tregonin një interes edhe aq të madh për të atin.Pas nje kohe Eugjeni shko ne shtepin e Anastasias vajzes se Xha Gorios ku ajo jetonte me te shoqin, dhe aty ai permendi emrin e Xha Gorios qe pas largimit te tij zoteria urdheroi sherbetorin qe te mos e lejonin te hynte mu per kete shkak.Ne rrjedhen e mepasshme te ngjarjeve Xha Gorio i afrohet Eugjenit kur kupton se ai kishte takuar të bijën e tij. Për t’u inkuadruar në klasën aristokrate Eugjeni i kerko para Familjes se tij per të blerë rroba të shtresës së lartë, të cilat me pas ia kthen familjes me ane te pokerit .Nje dite prej ditesh arrin lajmi per vrasjen e të birit të kontit dhe kuptohet se Viktorina ishte trashegimtarja e vetme .Pas disa krimesh te kryera Votreni perfundon ne burg. Ndërsa Eugjeni njoftohet me vajzën tjetër të Xha Gorios, Delfinin nga i dashuri Jashtmartesor i Konteshes. Ditet kalonin e Eugjeni po binte ne dashuri gjithmone e me teper me Delfinen, ndërkohë që Anastasi kishte bërë një skandal të paparë duke i shitur stolitë e vjehrrës së saj për të nxjerrë nga burgu të dashurin e saj të fshehët...
