An irreverent look at the stormy marriage of Socrates and Xanthippe. In the words of the author, 'Xanthippe is not a play about a shrew, or a taming of a shrew. It is, in fact, a comic dialog, an anti-dialog--a parody of Plato’s Symposium and Plato’s dialogs in general. Moreover, by challenging Plato’s portrayal of Socrates, Xanthippe seeks to raise a larger philosophical issue about the value of philosophy itself.
