Biorąc pod uwagę, że rodzina jest najbardziej wpływowym i najważniejszym wsparciem w życiu człowieka, warto zbadać sposoby wzmacniania więzi rodzinnych. Taki właśnie jest cel niniejszej książki. Niniejsze badanie w sposób jakościowy analizuje, w jaki sposób młodzi dorośli nadają znaczenie solidarności międzypokoleniowej w rodzinie poprzez wykorzystanie muzyki. W projekcie zastosowano rodzaj interpretacyjnej analizy fenomenologicznej (IPA) w celu odkrycia motywów nadawania znaczenia wśród młodych dorosłych. Zebranie danych polegało na przeprowadzeniu wywiadów z dziesięcioma młodymi dorosłymi, których rodziny nieświadomie lub świadomie wykorzystywały muzykę do wzmacniania solidarności międzypokoleniowej. Badanie miało na celu uchwycenie głębi znaczenia nadawanego przez każdego z młodych dorosłych. Wyłoniło się siedem ogólnych tematów. Pierwszy temat, „Doświadczyłem więzi z członkami mojej rodziny poprzez wykorzystanie muzyki', stanowi punkt wyjścia dla kolejnych tematów. Sześć kolejnych tematów przedstawia sześć sposobów, w jakie młodzi dorośli osiągnęli pierwszy temat: większą spójność z członkami rodziny z różnych pokoleń poprzez wykorzystanie muzyki.
