Polska jest obecnie największym producentem węgla w Unii Europejskiej. Obecny kryzys w tej branży postrzegany jest głównie przez pryzmat globalnego spadku cen ropy naftowej i nadprodukcji, ale ważne są również wewnętrzne przyczyny kryzysu. Kryzysy mają swoje wewnętrzne przyczyny wynikające z lokalnych uwarunkowań, zarządzania i stosowanych technologii. Poważny kryzys, w jakim znalazło się polskie górnictwo węgla kamiennego, wymusza przeprowadzenie gruntownej analizy obecnego stanu branży oraz efektywności jej działań, błędów i zaniechań w procesach restrukturyzacyjnych w kontekście rzeczywistych warunków funkcjonowania. Tylko dogłębna analiza może pozwolić na podjęcie skutecznych działań naprawczych. Celem niniejszej publikacji jest zwrócenie uwagi czytelnika na wybrane źródła obecnego kryzysu w polskim górnictwie węgla kamiennego. Autorzy skupili się w szczególności na aspektach organizacyjnych w obszarze zarządzania kapitałem ludzkim oraz oczekiwanym poziomem wydajności i czasu pracy. Celem autorów publikacji nie była ocena działań naprawczych, ale zwrócenie uwagi na wybrane pomysły poprawy obecnej sytuacji.
