Książka 'Joint Forest Management: A Case Study in Khordha District of Odisha' przedstawia strukturę i funkcjonowanie komitetów JFM, status społeczno-ekonomiczny i zależność od źródeł utrzymania w wioskach położonych na obrzeżach lasów w Khordha Forest Division. Na podstawie danych pierwotnych od 100 losowo wybranych respondentów, zebranych za pomocą ustrukturyzowanych kwestionariuszy i przeanalizowanych przy użyciu narzędzi statystycznych, badanie ujawnia aktywny udział społeczności ze znacznym zaangażowaniem kobiet i plemiennych gospodarstw domowych. Rolnictwo okazało się głównym źródłem utrzymania, a następnie zasoby leśne, w szczególności NTFP, takie jak liście soli i siali. Wyniki wskazują na silny pozytywny związek między źródłem utrzymania, dochodem, zatrudnieniem i marketingiem, przy czym zmienne społeczno-ekonomiczne wyjaśniają 70% zmienności dochodów. Zidentyfikowano ograniczenia, takie jak analfabetyzm, ograniczone korzyści i wąskie gardła instytucjonalne, podkreślając potrzebę wzmocnienia podejścia partycypacyjnego w celu zwiększenia skuteczności JFM.
