Our right to go to the Lord full and clear. It is irrespective of anything in us. It presupposes need and sin and struggles; nothing more. The invitation is wide and free. It takes us just as we are, annexing no restriction and demanding no prerequisite. It does not fence itself around with conditions, as if fearful too many might avail themselves of it or as if desirous to keep off the unqualified and the unworthy. It makes no exceptions as to previous life or present character; it welcomes the unworthiest. It forbids none. It leaves no room for suspicion on the part of any. 'Come, and come at once; come, and come boldly' is its message to all; for, him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.Weary soul, come at once and be blessed! You do not need to wait as if the Lord Jesus was not quite willing. Hurry and take hold of the promise by faith. He will show you His love.

  • The Morning of Joy
    Horatius Bonar
The morning! That is our watchword. Our evening prayers and songs are filled with hope. The morning adds hue to life, imparting color to that which is colorless, and freshening that which is faded. It is the essence of our hopes and dreams.Stars may help to make the sky less gloomy, but they are not the sun - and besides, clouds have now covered them so they are no longer visib...

  • The Night of Weeping

It was God’s purpose from the beginning not merely to redeem sinners from His condemnation but also to bring those people into a special relationship with Himself. It is His desire to draw mankind closer to Himself than any other of His creatures and to establish a most special link between His people and Himself.Trials, then, have a purpose. You are a disciple, that is, one who is under teaching; but your teaching, your discipleship, has only just begun. Your life is a book; it may be a bigger or smaller volume, but conversion is only the title page or the preface. The book itself remains to be...
