Novels and stories are often an attempt to understand various human beliefs, perceptions, thought process and ideas that guide the decisions people take in life. Women in Love is a story of two women Ursula and Gudrun, who portray two starkly different characters and expect different things from a relationship. Their respective husbands Rupert and Gerald also represent two starkly different streams of thoughts when it comes to work and relationship in life. The way the story unfolds, and the characters move ahead in their plot, the intensity of thought makes them choose their actions that steers their lives in different directions. The story has been claimed to be Lawrence’s portrayal of beliefs about important institutions of life.
