Es handelt sich um eine qualitative Studie, deren Ziel es war, die Erfahrungen von inhaftierten Müttern zu untersuchen, die ihre im Gefängnis geborenen Kinder verlassen mussten. Zwei Frauen nahmen an der Studie teil, indem sie halbstrukturierte Interviews führten. Die Ergebnisse, die unter anderem in Analysekategorien zusammengefasst wurden, zeigten unter anderem, welche Bedeutung die Mütter der Mutterschaft beimessen, welche Schwierigkeiten sie im Alltag haben, ihre mütterlichen Pflichten auszuüben und die Entwicklung ihres Kindes so zu begleiten, wie sie es sich wünschen, angesichts der Haftbedingungen, sowie welche Gefühle sie im Moment der Trennung empfinden und wie sich diese auf ihr aktuelles Leben auswirken.
