Wiadomo, że Egipt ma największe obciążenie zakażeniami wirusem zapalenia wątroby typu C (HCV) na świecie; częstość występowania wirusa osiągnęła 48%, a wśród pacjentów poddawanych hemodializie (HD) ryzyko zakażenia wynosi aż 87,5%. Przestrzeganie środków ostrożności stosowanych podczas HD przez personel pielęgniarski HD ma zasadnicze znaczenie dla zapobiegania przenoszeniu wirusa w oddziałach hemodializy (HDU). Celem badania była ocena wiedzy i praktyki personelu pielęgniarskiego w zakresie zapobiegania przenoszeniu wirusa HCV w oddziałach HDU w szpitalu uniwersyteckim w Egipcie.
