’Who said we can handle men?’: marital practices among women from lower socioeconomic backgrounds is the result of a PhD in history completed at the Federal University of Paraná. With this work, the author continues the studies she has been developing for over 20 years with families from lower socioeconomic backgrounds in the municipality of Mandaguari. Here, using the oral history method, she focuses specifically on women and their experiences, especially those directly related to marital practices. It is a work that addresses issues of gender, social class, memory and culture, themes that have been receiving increasing attention from historians.
