Whispers of the Spirit/ Shadows Beyond the Prairie 37,500 words- Historical Fiction- Bill Wilson      This is an experience of historical significance for readers of what it was living in 1700 for the indigenous people who lived on the plains of Western America. They were called Indians that had infiltrated over the Aleutian Island land bridge thousands of years ago before they settled on the prairie of North America.           These people were desperate to survive on their mainstay the one animal called buffalo. To survive you needed to hunt, to kill and butcher buffalo all year long. This small tribe survived due to the inside spiritual intelligence of the one chieftain named Chief Namahee who lead this tribe along with another senior Chief Greenleaf. They both were very active in the pursuit of all that was necessary for their survival, domesticating wolves for hunting and training of wild horses introduced in 1680 into the Colorado-Wyoming arena.           These actors were protected supernaturally by acknowledging their god the Great Spirit who was Chief Namahee’s mentor. The story is of the Great Spirit God directing the tribe through the Chiefs intuition; giving him wisdom beyond his intelligence for decisions, how to survive.     Historical fiction can convey the setting in fictional storytelling with the realism needed to highlight the Indian experience on the prairie that was shockingly difficult and many did not survive. Not many stories deal with these important elements; survival, buffalo hunting, domesticating wolves, and training wild horses to help with all kinds of jobs. This tale is more practical of the trials endured.
