Many of the poems in this collection explore liminalities, in particular the perceptible (and often imperceptible) edges and boundaries of sea, sky, and self, awareness of which often manifests as a sense of longing for the sea itself. Readers of peregrine’s poems will be glad to find gathered here for the first time all the ’Bartlett Bay’ poems and stories, sea-songs and chanteys, and story-poems about earlier days on the rocky shore.
