It was the 1960’s, a tumultuous time in the world. Hippies had captured the imagination of some espousing 'love not war' as their anthem, while other young men and women were thrown into a living hell as evidenced on the evening news which for the first time brought war into the living rooms of ordinary families. Some boys, young and eager for adventure, who also felt an obligation to serve their country, volunteered to participate in history. Dom Russo was one of those men, but he wasn’t prepared for the roller coaster ride his life was about to take. The story captures the life of a young man leaving home for the first time, and then suddenly being confronted with the realities of armed combat. Vietnam was the catalyst that turned boys into men and total strangers into brothers who were willing to do anything to protect each other and everything to defend our freedom. It wasn’t all bad though. Dom and his friends engineered and enjoyed some wild schemes interspersed between the nightly bombings and missions.
