Over the years I’ve always appeared to be a little out of step with the conventional wisdom coming from our political leadership. Starting in 1964 with the Johnson/Goldwater presidential campaign I joined the Republican Party. It wasn’t long before I realized I was also out of step with them as well. Both parties appeared to be more concerned with their own personal fortunes and little concern with Constitutional Law or their constituencies. Although I continued working with the Republican Party; I fought the established dogma the only way I knew; I fought back with emails and letters to the editors.During the period of 2015 through 2016 and on up until the miraculous election of Donald Trump over one of the most corrupt Democrat candidates ever to run for the Presidency of the United States of America, I published “From Ike’s Desk” my political emails on at least a weekly basis. Of the seventy-one emails contained within this book; many explaining why I was against Donald Trump as president and various subjects concerning our election process and the many changes necessary to make it more fair and equitable to politicians as well as the electorate.Since the election of Barrack Obama I know now why I’ve spent these years and many hours laboring over emails and letters to the editors. It’s because I must have sensed this day would eventually come if the citizens of our beautiful America became complacent and no longer gave thought, or even remembered the reason our founding fathers sacrificed and struggled so hard for their Liberty and for those generations yet to come. God bless them and their wisdom to create the most perfect document ever created by man.Ask not what you can do for me, ask what you can do for my country. Take care of my country and my country will take care of me.                - Gene Nelson Isom
