In 1971, at 20 years of age, Mary Jalalabadi joined Voluntary Service Overseas with the British Council and was sent as an Agricultural Science teacher to Zambia, Africa, where she met and married Ashok, a fellow teacher at the same school she was sent to. The expatriate community she was part of in Zambia was heavily into drinking, partying, swearing, and telling dirty jokes, but her life changed dramatically eight years later when she accepted Jesus Christ into her heart as her Lord and Saviour. As a child, she had become innocently introduced to Ouija Boards, and a few years later, was invited to a spiritualist meeting. An awareness of the spiritual realm gripped her, and she knew in her heart that these things were wrong but didn’t understand why. After marrying Ashok, she and her husband started seeking after more of God, but because Ashok was a Hindu when they got married, they ventured into deeper forms of Yoga and Transcendental Meditation, read all manner of books on the spiritual realm, but she didn’t know these things were ensnaring her spiritually. A couple of years later, they moved to Zimbabwe, and she met some believers who were doing a study on Restoring the Broken Walls of the Human Personality. It became clear to her that she needed to be set free from things that had ensnared her since childhood, and these believers showed her the way to freedom in Christ. Mary was set free that day and decided that she wanted to train so she could show others the way to freedom in Christ because, as she says, 'It wasn’t Rocket Science!' Mary’s desire is that elements of this book will help equip you to show others the way to freedom in Christ.
