È il 1943 quando uno squadrone di Wellington inglesi decolla dalla Tunisia con la missione di bombardare le fabbriche FIAT a Torino. Tra i Wellington un aereo è incaricato di distruggere Berlino con una bomba atomica, ma i velivoli incontrano una terribile tormenta di neve sugli Appennini liguri ed alcuni fanno ritorno alla base, ma tre decidono di proseguire la missione schiantandosi in Val Boreca. Prima dell’impatto, che pone fine alla vita di tanti giovani, cinque aviatori inglesi scelgono di posticipare la data dell’esplosione della bomba al 2025. Elisa è una ragazza curiosa che vive ai tempi moderni ed è particolarmente attratta dai colori, dagli antichi manufatti, dalle letture storiche e dalle uniformi. Dopo essere salita a Palermo su un aereo diretto a Genova con sua madre Laura, prende posto accanto ad un alto funzionario dell’aviazione britannica e a Paolo, un veterano della Marina. Durante una conversazione vivace, Elisa realizza che sta per ricevere una missione segreta la quale avrà il grande potere di cambiare il corso della storia. In questo avvincente romanzo, una bambina, che incontra due misteriosi uomini su un aereo, di linea diretto a Genova deve fare affidamento sulla sua ingegnosità e determinazione per fermare una missione fatale pianificata circa ottant’anni prima.
