Das Büchlein ist ein immer wieder erneuerter Versuch an das Weihnachtsgeschehen und den Weihnachtsfestkreis heranzukommen. Stumpfs Predigten, Erzählungen und Legenden versuchen das Geheimnis der Heiligen Nacht in eine erzählerische Sprache unserer Zeit umzusetzen. Auch zeigt es auf, wie Menschen vom Weihnachtsfest verändert werden und praktische Schritte auf das Fest hin unternehmen. Während einige Beiträge anspruchsvolle exegetische Versuche sind, geeignet für Gottesdienste, kann man die Erzählungen sehr gut für Senioren- oder Gemeindeweihnachten, oder gar Club-Veranstaltungen einsetzen. Der Autor hat dabei besonders an seine vielbeschäftigten Amtsbrüder gedacht. Vielleicht vermag die eine oder andere Geschichte dem Seelsorger Anregungen geben für seine zahlreichen Weihnachtsfeiern.
