Ausgehend von einer sozialen / diskursiv hergestellten geschlechtsbezogenen Zweiwertigkeit des Begehrens, beleuchtet Bettina Wuttig die Inhalte des heutigen kulturell dominierenden 'weiblichen Begehrens'. Ihre zentrale Frage hierbei ist, inwieweit gesellschaftlich produziertes 'weibliches Begehren' als eine Schaltstelle zur Reproduktion von Herrschaft fungiert. Neben de-ontologisierenden momentanen Zustandsbeschreibungen von 'weiblicher Sexualität' anhand von sexuellen Phantasien, erotischer Literatur und 'weiblichem Verhalten' in (Liebes-)Beziehungen werden ältere und neuere psychoanalytische Theoriebildungen über 'weibliche Sexualität' - insbesondere die Herrschafts- und Sexualitätsanalyse Jessica Benjamins - mit Hilfe eines Rückgriffs auf poststrukturalistische bzw. diskurstheoretische Ansätze kritisch gelesen. Hierbei wird die Frage aufgeworfen, ob sich der von der psychoanalytischen Theorie als Perversion katalogisierte sogenannte sexuelle Masochismus zur Verschiebung einer Begehrenstechnik eignet.
