Er steht in Zusammenhang mit Politik, zwischenmenschlichen Beziehungen, Sexualität und gesellschaftlichen Normen. „Abtreibung ist ein kontroverses und emotionales Thema, das sowohl bei Gegnern als auch bei Befürwortern heftige Reaktionen hervorruft.' Eng verbunden mit Schwangerschaftsabbruch, wenn auch nicht allgemein anerkannt, ist die weibliche Sexualität. Die Sexualität einer Frau wird ganzheitlich durch ihren gesellschaftlichen, kulturellen, religiösen und persönlichen Hintergrund beeinflusst (Nelson, 2001) und daher wird ihre Interpretation ihrer Sexualität letztendlich beeinflussen, wie sie ihre Sexualität im Zusammenhang mit einem Schwangerschaftsabbruch versteht.
