Jest to bardzo interesujące i dobrze zaprojektowane przekrojowe badanie porównawcze, mające na celu wczesne wykrywanie osteoporozy wśród pracowników Uniwersytetu Minia, a także zbadanie najważniejszych czynników ryzyka, które mogą przyczyniać się do wystąpienia osteoporozy. W ramach badania przeprowadzono również kampanię informacyjną wśród pracowników na temat osteoporozy i jej czynników determinujących, aby zapobiegać, opóźniać lub spowalniać postęp choroby. Wysoki wskaźnik palenia tytoniu, siedzący tryb życia, a także nieprawidłowe nawyki żywieniowe i historia chorób w rodzinie miały duży wpływ i predysponowały do wystąpienia osteoporozy i osteopenii wśród badanych. U prawie jednej czwartej uczestników badania stwierdzono osteoporozę za pomocą „ilościowej tomografii komputerowej' 1-4 kręgów lędźwiowych w pracowni tomografii komputerowej. Wyniki badania wykazały, że osteoporoza występuje dwukrotnie częściej u kobiet niż u mężczyzn i jest dodatnio skorelowana z wiekiem.
