While Harry Miller and his two grandsons ages 12 and 16 were moose hunting on the Taylor Highway near Chicken, Alaska an EMP happens one night causing their motorhome to be inoperable. Since it was August 21 winter would soon come to this area. They are delayed due to his youngest grandson’s injury while packing out the meat from a moose the youngest grandson killed. While hiking the 400 miles back to Anchorage they run into several problems with drug dealers, wild animals, and several other problems unique to Alaska. Winter and snow catch them 10 miles before reaching Palmer, Alaska and 60 miles from home. While they are gone Samantha, Harry’s wife has her own problems to contend with back in Anchorage. The population of Alaska at the last census is 733,391 with a population density of 1.26 per square mile with most of them located on the road system and in the largest city which is Anchorage. Alaska has a little over 60,000 military veterans from all branches of service including many from Special OPS.

Paul Keller is the Stephen Dedalus of the piece, the son of Robert and Sylvie, whose internal monologue is spliced into the action, and whose incestuous feelings for his sister lead to an increase in his...
