Victoria, the daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Kent, born on 24th May, 1919 was the delight of the German Saxe Coburgs, but did not impress the English Royal Family. The Duke died just 8 months after his daughter’s birth and the Duchess, very determined that her child should eventually become Queen, ensured the carefully tutored Victoria, rarely met other children and only learned in her teens that this might happen. In her 18th year, she was crowned. Two years later she married Prince Albert, becoming pregnant almost immediately. She bore nine children and was attacked on eight occasions by people, whilst out in her carriage. In spite of losing her husband at 42, she ensured that as may of her children as possible, joined and became part of the royal households throughout Europe.

The collection arcs from, at one extreme, the parsimonies of the household, to the transce...

    Edward V Bonner
The very title of Edward V. Bonner's first volume of poetry, One Kiss (Ingram, 2015), suggests some ways in which the poems inside balance the universal with the particular. Most of the poems examine the themes of beauty and risk, pleasure and danger, in the context of one of three kinds of relationships: to romantic partners, to the spiritual world, and to the world of nature....

  • The Truth about A
