Jahrhunderts, weshalb die Beseitigung „weißer Flecken' in deren Geschichte eine wesentliche Aufgabe zeithistorischer Forschung ist.Der russische Historiker Boris Chavkin zählt in Rußland zu den besten Kennern Deutschlands und der Archivbestände zur deutschen Zeitgeschichte. Seine teilweise aufsehenerregenden Archivfunde trugen zur Beantwortung verschiedener offener Fragen bei. Dies betrifft etwa die Hintergründe der Ermordung des deutschen Gesandten in Russland Graf Mirbach am 6. Juli 1918, die Lage der deutschen Kriegsgefangenen in der Sowjetunion, die Biographie einer umstrittenen Figur des deutschen Widerstandes, Major i.G. Joachim Kuhn, oder die Bewertung der deutsch-sowjetischen Geheimabkommen von 1939-41 durch die Kreml-Führung während der Auflösung der Sowjetunion 1989-91.Diese und andere Befunde werden hier in Form einer Ausatz- und Dokumentensammlung nochmals der deutschen Öffentlichkeit zugänglich gemacht. 3
