Given an economic context that calls for greater dynamism in investment and business creation, venture capital-a structured and organized industry in Tunisia-plays an important role in the chain of financing and support for businesses, particularly innovative SMEs, which constitute the most dynamic sector of the economy. In this report, we consider venture capital to be a key segment for SME financing in Tunisia, and we believe it is imperative to develop it further so that it can make a greater contribution to the SME financing framework. We also propose, with the aim of outlining a future vision for this sector by 2020, a prospective study based on a structural analysis of the macroeconomic variables that make up the venture capital system in Tunisia. This analysis has enabled us to present three scenarios for possible short-term developments, taking into account the specific characteristics of the Tunisian economy and, in particular, the Tunisian financial system.
