The extracts were obtained by hydroalcoholic maceration and the essential oils by hydrodistillation, and were later incorporated into nanoemulsions and the final facial serum. Phytochemical characterization was carried out through spectrophotometric quantification of total phenols, flavonoids, tannins and vitamin C, in addition to the evaluation of antioxidant (ABTS, DPPH and FRAP methods) and anti-inflammatory activities in vitro (inhibition of thermal denaturation of albumin). The results showed that the facial serum had a total phenol content classified as very active (125.43 mg EAG/g) and a tannin content of 184.87 mg EQ/g, with low levels of flavonoids and vitamin C. The final formulation exhibited high antioxidant activity in the three assays (IC50 of 2.57 mg/L, 2.34 mg/L and 0.35 mg/L for ABTS, DPPH and FRAP, respectively) and expressive anti-inflammatory activity (CI50 = 2.08 mg/L), higher than that observed for most of the isolated inputs, suggesting a synergistic effect between the incorporated plant components.
