The provision of VCT services is a growing trend through out Sub-Saharan Africa. Korzyści płynące z VCT dla osób zakażonych HIV są oczywiste, np. wsparcie psychospołeczne, dostęp do dalszych zasobów itp. W niniejszym opracowaniu przyjrzano się roli, jaką VCT odgrywa w doprowadzaniu do zmiany zachowań w narażonych populacjach. Badanie zostało przeprowadzone w Swakopmund, w Namibii. Zebrano dane dotyczące osób dobrowolnie korzystających z usług VCT. Badanie koncentruje się na 221 klientach, którzy uczestniczyli w usługach VCT, uzyskali wynik negatywny podczas pierwszej wizyty i powrócili po trzech miesiącach w celu dalszego poradnictwa i testowania. Badanie to może być pomocne przy wdrażaniu podobnych programów na całym świecie. Może pomóc w określeniu niedociągnięć programu i dostarczyć istotnych informacji w celu opracowania bardziej ukierunkowanych i skutecznych programów profilaktyki HIV.
