La valorisation énergétique dépend fortement de la composition et des caractéristiques des déchets, des techniques disponibles et du rapport coût-bénéfice. En ce sens, à travers une stratégie d’étude de cas et l’analyse de deux cas, les pneus en fin de vie (PFV) et les déchets textiles industriels, la présente thèse vise à démontrer la possibilité de valorisation énergétique des déchets et les avantages environnementaux et économiques qui y sont associés. La valorisation énergétique des PFV permet simultanément le recyclage, la valorisation énergétique et l’élimination des déchets. En outre, les PFV ont un pouvoir calorifique presque équivalent à celui des combustibles fossiles, avec des impacts moindres et un faible coût, ce qui en fait un substitut idéal dans les processus à forte consommation d’énergie. Quant aux déchets textiles industriels, leur valorisation pour la production d’énergie thermique destinée à être utilisée dans les processus de production permet d’optimiser le cycle de production, d’exploiter la ressource énergétique, d’éviter les coûts liés à l’envoi en décharge et à l’achat de combustibles fossiles, ainsi que de prévenir leurs impacts.
