Valor with Honor, the Advent of a Scottish Legend is the first in a series of novels by R. L. Wiggins chronicling the generational significance of the Reed family of Scotland and their impact upon a turbulent eighteenth century Europe, Great Britain and the American colonies. As you read this novel you will feel as if you are watching the events in history take place right before your eyes. This compelling narrative includes little known historical facts, battles, romance and underlying aspects that propel Henry Reed to legendary popularity with his fellow Scots and in the eyes of his cousin, King George II. Henry was a man of strong character displaying loyalty, honor and valor as he became a significant party to the King’s endeavor to preserve the Scotland and England union. When the Union and throne of King George was threatened by an uprising, Colonel Henry Reed was one of those called upon to bring and end to this Civil War.The story unfolds as an aging Scotsman tells the story of his ancestors to his eager young nephews visiting from America. The lads are mesmerized by their grand-uncle’s recounting the family’s influence and contributions in shaping the history of eighteenth century Scotland and England. R.L. Wiggins has carefully maintained the historical integrity of the ongoing accounts of the time. Although the Reed family are fictitious characters, they have been carefully woven into the fabric of the historical events of that period. Wars, personal tragedy and unbelievable hardships follow the Reeds throughout their subsequent generations. Their adversities reinforced the family’s devotion to one another and strengthened them as a family. Robert (Bob) Wiggins received his education at Southwest Texas State College. In his hometown of Austin, Texas, Bob was a successful businessman for forty-five years. For more than twenty-five years, he wrote a comprehensive newsletter for the oldest active Civic organization in Austin. He assisted local politicians in writing speeches, as well as providing an Insurance column for a local weekly newspaper. An avid fan of history, and known for having a vivid imagination, Bob decided to try his hand at writing novels. His novel, titled Valor with Honor: The Advent of a Scottish Legend is the first in a series of novels chronicling the various generations of the fictitious, but legendary Reed Family.

“Some shows have warnings for strobe lights. Some have them for loud gunshots.  Some for smoke.   MISSISSIPPI GODDAMN, a new play by Jonathan Norton should have one for intensity.   Granted, anyone attending a play about civil rights pioneer Medgar Evers set in 1963 Jackson, Mississippi, should expect some strife. Blood in the battle for racial equality is no surprise, but f...

“It seems to me that for fertility in droll inventions, the perpetual outpouring of unforeseen misunderstandings, for the inexhaustible gaiety of dialogue, Feydeau’s new play is superior to everything he’s written so far. The most astonishing thing is the sureness with which everything is controlled, explained, justified, in the most extravagant buffoonery. The cross-purpose...

A queen, I mean, and not just of the self-dramatizing type. Scratch that. She’s more than a queen. She’s a pharaoh, one Hatshepsut, who reigned over Egypt ...
