يتناول هذا الكتاب دراسة شاملة ومتعمقة للنظام النقدي والمالي الدولي، ويُعد مرجعًا أكاديميًا متخصصًا لطلبة الاقتصاد والباحثين والمهتمين بالشؤون المالية والنقدية الدولية. ينقسم الكتاب إلى سبعة فصول رئيسية، تغطي تطور النظام النقدي والتمويلي العالمي، من بدايات المقايضة إلى أنظمة أسعار الصرف الحالية، كما يستعرض دور المنظمات المالية الدولية وأدوات التمويل المعاصر.يبدأ الكتاب بفصل تمهيدي حول تطور النظام النقدي الدولي، بدءًا من نظام المقايضة وظهور النقود، مرورًا بالمرحلة الميركانتيلية، ثم نظام قاعدة الذهب، وانهياره، وصولًا إلى نظام بريتون وودز، وأخيرًا التحول إلى أنظمة أسعار الصرف المرنة منذ عام 1973م.ثم ينتقل إلى الفصل الثاني، حيث يستعرض مفهوم التمويل الدولي وأهميته، وعناصر النظام الاقتصادي الدولي، وتاريخه، وأثر الحروب العالمية على طبيعة التمويل. كما يتناول مصادر التمويل الدولي الرسمية وغير الرسمية، ويُسلط الضوء على التمويل التجاري الدولي ومبررات اللجوء إليه.أما الفصل الثالث، فيركّز على ميزان المدفوعات من حيث تعريفه وأهميته ووظائفه وتركيبه، إضافة إلى أنواع التوازن فيه وأسباب الاختلال، والسياسات المقترحة لتصحيحه.في الفصل الرابع، يستعرض الكتاب دور وأهداف أبرز المنظمات المالية الدولية والإقليمية مثل صندوق النقد الدولي والبنك الدولي، بالإضافة إلى مؤسسات التمويل الإقليمية كصندوق النقد العربي والبنك الإسلامي للتنمية، موضحًا هياكلها التنظيمية ومهامها وآليات عملها.ويتناول الفصل الخامس موضوع سعر الصرف، بأنواعه المختلفة مثل الاسمي والحقيقي والفعلي، والعوامل المؤثرة فيه، وأنظمة الصرف السائدة عالميًا، إضافة إلى سوق الصرف الأجنبي وخصائصه ووظائفه.أما الفصل السادس فيُركّز على المشتقات المالية، ويشرح أدواتها المختلفة كعقود الخيارات، والعقود المستقبلية، والمبادلات، مبينًا دورها في التحوط وإدارة المخاطر المالية، إلى جانب المخاطر المرتبطة باستخدامها.ويختتم الكتاب بـ الفصل السابع حول أسواق رأس المال والنقد، ويستعرض نشأتها، وآلية عملها، وكفاءتها، .يتميّز الكتاب بجمعه بين الجانب النظري والتحليل التاريخي، مدعومًا بأمثلة وتطبيقات عملية في نهاية كل فصل، مما يجعله مصدرًا غنيًا لفهم النظام المالي الدولي وتطوراته المعاصرة.
