في أوّل يوم خميس من العام 1981، ستصيب قذيفة كبيرة عن طريق الخطأ منزل كيفورك، وسيتسبّب ذلك بحريق سيلتهم كامل محتوياته. داخل منزله المتفحّم والذي جاء لتفقُّده بعد أيام، سيدرك كيفورك أنّه الآن فقد كلّ شيء. فقد كلّ متعلّقاته، كلّ ممتلكاته، أرشيفه الخاصّ، ما لا يحصى من المقتنيات، وجميع الأغراض التي اشتراها وجمعها عبر السنين. النسخة الوحيدة لفيلم التخرّج. ثلاثة ألبومات صور شخصية تحوي مئات الصور التي تغطّي جميع مراحل حياته من الطفولة إلى الصبا إلى المراهقة إلى سنوات دراسته الجامعية في باريس. صوره تلميذًا جامعيًّا مشاركًا في تظاهرات طلّاب باريس الحانقين واجتماعاتهم في أيار 1968. صور النسوة اللواتي مررن بحياته. عشرات الأعمال الفنّية لفنّانين تشكيليين لبنانيين وفلسطينيين وسوريين كانت تزيّن جدران شقّته البيروتية الفخمة. حتّى قطّته السيامية سماهر تفحّمت. ملابسه، ساعاته، كاميراته، سندات الملكية بالعقارات والأراضي التي ورثها عن والده، والكثير من مسوّدات سيناريوات أفلام غير منتهية. هناك، وبينما كان كيفورك واقفًا وسط ركام منزله المتفحّم، ستدهمه مرّة أخرى فكرة البداية الجديدة. سيفكّر أنّه بعد كلّ الذي حصل، ليس يمكن أفضل ولا أنسب من كلّ ما حصل لبداية جديدة بحقّ وحقيق.On the first Thursday of 1981, a large missile accidentally strikes Kevork’s house, causing a fire that will consume everything inside. Inside his charred house, which he came to inspect after a few days, Kevork realizes that he has now lost everything. He has lost all his belongings, possessions, personal archives, countless collectibles, and all the items he acquired and accumulated over the years. The only copy of his graduation film. Three albums of personal photos containing hundreds of pictures that cover all stages of his life from childhood, youth, adolescence to his university years in Paris. Pictures of him participating in the protests of angry Parisian students and their meetings in May 1968. Pictures of the women he encountered. Dozens of artworks by Lebanese, Palestinian, and Syrian artists that adorned the walls of his luxurious Beirut apartment. Even his Siamese cat, Samaher, was charred. His clothes, watches, cameras, property deeds for the real estate and lands he enherited from his father, and many unfinished film screenplay drafts. There, as Kevork stood in the midst of the ruins of his burnt house, the idea of a fresh start overwhelms him once again. He realizes that after everything that happened, he couldn’t have had a better or more suitable opportunity for a true and genuine new beginning.
