L’assistenza postnatale materno-infantile integrata nei primi giorni dopo il parto dovrebbe essere offerta a tutti i neonati e alle loro madri come parte di una strategia concertata per migliorare le possibilità di sopravvivenza della coppia madre-bambino. In Camerun, nel 2014 solo il 62% dei neonati ha ricevuto assistenza sanitaria nella settimana successiva alla nascita in una struttura sanitaria o a casa.Utilizzando i dati MICS-V, questa ricerca intende contribuire a migliorare la conoscenza dei fattori esplicativi associati all’utilizzo delle cure postnatali per i neonati in Camerun, utilizzando analisi descrittive ed esplicative multivariate.I risultati rivelano che le caratteristiche della madre, quelle associate al suo partner e quelle del bambino sono determinanti del ricorso alle cure postnatali per il neonato.Alla luce di questi risultati, è importante intensificare le campagne di sensibilizzazione e i colloqui educativi rivolti alle popolazioni delle regioni settentrionali, sottolineando l’importanza delle consultazioni postnatali per la madre e il neonato.
