Dieses Buch bewertet die Urankonzentrationen im Grundwasser aus verschiedenen Grundwasserleitern im Khetri-Kupfergürtel, Rajasthan, Indien, einschließlich Alluvium, Kalkstein, Granit, Schiefer und Quarzit. Die Ergebnisse zeigen eine erhebliche Variabilität, wobei einige Proben 115 µg/L übersteigen - Werte, die mit einem erhöhten Krebsrisiko verbunden sind, insbesondere bei Säuglingen. Schätzungen der Strahlendosis für verschiedene Altersgruppen und Risikobewertungen deuten darauf hin, dass ein längerer Konsum, insbesondere aus Schiefergrundwasserleitern, zu innerer Strahlenexposition und chemischer Toxizität führen kann. In allen Grundwasserleitern außer Kalkstein wurde eine signifikante Korrelation zwischen Uran und den gesamten gelösten Feststoffen festgestellt. Diese Ergebnisse verdeutlichen die dringende Notwendigkeit einer Überwachung und Bewirtschaftung der Grundwasserqualität, um Gesundheitsrisiken im Zusammenhang mit einer Urankontamination zu mindern.
