My name is Karen R. Hobbs and I am an Adult Survivor of Childhood Sexual Abuse. I was abused by an ordained pastor and teacher at the Christian school I attended. For five years, day in and day out I was molested, raped, etc. When the school was notified, they fired the teacher and said it was an inappropriate consensual relationship with a student. Nothing else was done. He was forty-seven at the time and I was twelve.Thirty years later, I went to the police, I was wired, and made a call to the offender. He confessed to what he did on the call to me and later in an interview with the police. However, to this day, he still does not believe he has done anything wrong. Last Monday, he pled guilty to forcible sodomy and was taken to jail for what will probably be the rest of his life.In the midst of if all, God showed up. I can honestly tell you that I no longer blame God for the abuse and rape in my life. As a matter of fact, I consider it a great honor that God saw me strong enough to endure it. You see, that day I put my faith in God was not a guarantee that my life would be easy and free from pain. Though I am faced with the uncertainty of what lies ahead of me in dealing with the painful memories and feelings of abuse, I know that God is here with me and that when all this is over I will be better equipped as a servant of Jesus Christ. Karen R. Hobbs has more than twenty years of experience working in the counseling field. Her greatest area of expertise is working with children who have experienced sexual trauma. She enjoys helping adolescents and families through cognitive and family therapy. Karen received her Master’s degree in Psychological Services/Counseling from Marymount University, 1994, licensed in the State of Virginia as a Professional Counselor in 2001, and obtained her B.S. in Psychology, Counseling, and Biblical studies from Liberty University.™     renewingheartsfamilycounseling.com

We’ve been duped into removing prayer from the center of our churches and have placed it on the periphery or semi-periphery.  What we’re witnessing today in our churches, and in society at large, is that legacy of prayerlessness.  Church leadership may be hesitant and embarrassed to admit it, but there is a direct correlation between our spiritual weakness and our lack of corpo...

If God is good, why do we get sick? When God created the world, He declared: "It is good." But then came the Fall, and with it sickness and death. In this heart-tugging monograph, Dr. Davis McGuirt draws from both his training in theology and the personal agony of watching his father die from cancer to provide a variety of biblical reasons for why we get sick. We are also remin...
