How will a couple, estranged for almost five years, survive being thrown together on beautiful Motutawa island, sharing the same house? Isabella Forrester knows she’s mad for offering refuge to her estranged husband, but Jack’s in danger – apparently – so while he recovers from the beating somebody gave him, he’s living in her house. On a small island. Of course, Jack’s as much a reluctant participant as Isabella but here they are, the traumatic implosion of their marriage bubbling to the service with every conversation they have and pretty soon they’re occupying opposite ends of the house. Jack has no idea how he ended up in Isabella’s garden and definitely no idea why he returned to New Zealand, but here he is and now he’s sharing a house with the woman he’s loved since the summer he turned seventeen. The weight of physical and emotional guilt he carries from abandoning her when she needed him the most has cut deep into his soul, leaving him to question how she could even think of being kind to him. But she has. As Jack’s physical injuries begin to heal and their fractured, wounded hearts are slowly pulled together, they’re soon burning up the bedsheets and rediscovering everything which was good in their marriage. But when an ugly darkness overshadows their tenuous grip on a second chance, it threatens everything they’ve fought to get back. Will their happy ending be snatched from them, or will Isabella and Jack emerge stronger than ever?
