L’objectif principal de ce livre est d’explorer les représentations de l’enseignement supérieur au cinéma. Pour atteindre cet objectif, ce livre consiste en une analyse des thèmes qui ont émergé dans les films concernant l’enseignement supérieur. Ce livre se concentre sur sept thèmes principaux concernant l’enseignement supérieur au cinéma. Les thèmes de l’enseignement supérieur qui sont examinés dans ce livre sont les étudiants, les services aux étudiants, les admissions, la race, les finances, le corps professoral et le genre. Cet ouvrage se concentre sur les films des années 1950 à 2015. Les récits qui ont émergé de l’analyse des films sont comparés et contrastés avec la littérature savante concernant l’enseignement supérieur. L’analyse des films a également consisté à juxtaposer les récits des films aux travaux de théoriciens postmodernes tels que Michel Foucault afin d’éclairer et d’étayer les affirmations de l’auteur.
