Abschiebungen zeigen sich als ein umkämpftes Feld: Während einerseits an der Durchsetzung der Ausreisepflicht gearbeitet wird, wird andererseits versucht auf ihre Demontage hinzuwirken, um eine Abschiebung zu verhindern. Diese parallelen Praktiken des doing und undoing der Abschiebung stehen im Fokus dieses Buches.Forschung zu Migration setzt in vielen Fällen eine Übermacht des Staates voraus: Staaten können neueste Überwachungstechnologien einsetzen, militarisieren ihre Grenzen, intensivieren den Grenzschutz, können Abschiebungen unter dem Einsatz von Zwangsgewalt durchführen und immer restriktivere Gesetzgebungen im Bereich Migration erlassen. Aus einer transsequentiellen Perspektive wird demgegenüber mit einem etwas anderen Fokus auf Staatlichkeit geblickt: mittels einer systematischen Rekonstruktion und Analyse der bürokratischen Praktiken, die notwendig sind, um die Ausreisepflicht voranzutreiben. Der Arbeitsprozess wird in seiner kontingenten Komplexität nachgezeichnet, indem die Arbeit an der Ausreisepflicht in einzelnen Schritten und unter Einbezug unterschiedlichster Akteur:innen untersucht wird. In den Blick rücken politische und bürokratische (Mikro-)Praktiken mitsamt ihren Eigenlogiken, Ermessensspielräumen und Inkohärenzen.
