Le circostanze di questa controversa spedizione, che per molti anni pretese di essere quella che avrebbe scoperto le sorgenti dell’Orinoco, insieme alla personalità sfuggente del pittore, ignorato dal suo compagno, hanno fatto sì che il suo diario di viaggio e l’opera grafica di questo artista lionese, entrambi impregnati di grande sensibilità e amore per il grande fiume e il suo ambiente, siano arrivati al grande pubblico solo di recente.
