Dieses Buch ist das Ergebnis des Programms für das sozioökonomische Empowerment der Frauen (PESED), einer internationalen Initiative zur Förderung der Gleichstellung der Geschlechter. Einerseits soll es die Bedeutung und die Rolle der Frauen in der Wirtschaft in einem der produktiven Sektoren, die eines der Potenziale Mosambiks darstellen, nämlich dem Agrarsektor, detailliert darstellen. Andererseits werden die anhaltenden Hindernisse aufgezeigt, mit denen Frauen konfrontiert sind, die sozialer, wirtschaftlicher und sogar kultureller Natur sind und die sich in einem eingeschränkten Zugang zu Finanzdienstleistungen, Schwierigkeiten bei der Vereinbarkeit von Beruf und Hausarbeit, dem Zugang zu Informationen und der Informalität äußern, die es ihnen nicht erlauben, ihre Beteiligung am Wirtschaftsleben zu verstärken.
