Existe uma sensação de nervosismo, medo e ansiedade quando os alunos de uma segunda língua ou língua estrangeira tentam aprender a comunicar numa língua que lhes é estranha. Uma mistura desses sentimentos pode ter um impacto negativo no aluno e afetar a comunicação ao usar a língua-alvo. Há uma grande demanda para aprender boas habilidades de comunicação com o uso generalizado da língua inglesa e com o uso de novos métodos de ensino nas salas de aula de línguas. Apesar de tudo isso, os sentimentos negativos podem ser um obstáculo para que os alunos alcancem o que desejam. Espera-se que o professor de língua que está a ajudar os alunos a aprender a língua seja muito cauteloso com os sentimentos de ansiedade dos alunos quando os ajuda a atingir o seu objetivo. Este estudo é uma tentativa de examinar os elementos que provavelmente podem causar ansiedade linguística. Existem muitas maneiras e métodos que podem ser usados tanto dentro do ambiente da sala de aula como fora dela, na vida social, para lidar com essas questões de ansiedade. Os investigadores do passado mencionaram que isso é difícil e disseram que é uma questão psicológica.
