Onde começa e onde termina o planeamento enquanto campo de investigação e de ação? Responder a esta questão é um desafio, provavelmente ainda maior no primeiro caso (campo de investigação) do que no segundo (campo de ação), de tal modo que o planeamento é por vezes confundido com o urbanismo, a arquitetura, a geografia, a engenharia civil, o design (interior e industrial), a planificação, etc. A esta dificuldade junta-se uma outra, a de definir ou melhor, identificar com precisão os quadros teóricos em que se baseia a investigação em planeamento, o que parece ser mais uma questão de escolha do que de recorrer a um corpus claramente identificado. É neste contexto que recorremos a três teses de disciplinas diferentes para compreender melhor a especificidade das disciplinas de planeamento. Para melhor compreender a natureza e o conteúdo das teses das diferentes disciplinas, começaremos por apresentar as principais correntes epistemológicas e, em seguida, analisaremos o conteúdo das teses da Faculdade de Direito, da Faculdade de Farmácia e da Faculdade de Planeamento.
