دوائر العميان-Circles of the Blind

في القرن الرابع عشر، يصير يعقوب قاضياً للقضاة بدولة المنسا القوية، لكنه يبقى شيخاً مثيراً للالتباس. يستيقظ ضميره عندما يصل إليه حبّاب، القادم لقتله في الأساس، بعد رحلة شاقة، امتدت على أعوامٍ خمس، في لهيب الصحراء. خلال هذه السنوات، سحرته مرمدة، لكنه ظَلّ يحن إلى زوجته. بعد تيه طويل، عابراً في أحداثٍ تشكّل مجتمعةً تاريخاً لشمال افريقيا ووسطها بأسرها، يعود إلى منزله بجسدٍ منهك، وقلب مثقل بعنف القبائل والنزاع فيما بينها، ولا يعود منتصراً.كل هذا من الماضي البعيد، ولكنه حاضرٌ بقوة في زمننا، إذ تحدد فصول الرواية العلاقة بين دولاً قديمة، قبل أن تكون دولاً، فترسم العلاقة التاريخية بين القوافل التائهة في الصحراء الافريقية. هكذا، تتقاطع العلاقة في سرد تاريخي محكم، بين ثلاث دول اليوم: مصر المحروسة بإرثها الأزهري الكبير، والمغرب الشاهد العملاق على الصحراء، بالإضافة إلى مالي التي كان لنجاة جزء وافر من آثارها دوراً كبيراً في استعادة هذا التاريخ، ولا سيما أن القصة بأسرها تبدأ عندما قرر صحافي إنكليزي مساعدة صديقه الماليّ في انقاذ ما يمكن إنقاذه من غزوات مسلّحي داعش.كأنّ الراوي يتّخذ من شخصياته وسيلة لاستعراض العلاقات بين الناس وطرائق حياتهم قبل قرنٍ من الزمان علياء الداية - البناءIn the fourteenth century, Yaacoub becomes the Chief Judge of the strong state of Al-Mansa, but remains as an ambiguous Sheikh. His conscience awakens when Habbab, who came to kill him in the first place, finds him after a grueling journey that spanned five years in the flames of the desert. During these years, Marmada had bewitched Yaacoub, but he still yearned for his wife. After a long wandering, passing through events that collectively comprise the history of North and Central Africa as a whole, he returns to his home with an exhausted body and a heart burdened with tribal violence and the conflicts among them, and he does not return victorious. All of this is from the distant past, but is strongly present in our time, since the chapters of the novel define the relationship between ancient states before they became states, and draw the historical relationship between the convoys wandering in the African desert. That being so, the relationship intersects in a tight historical narration between three countries existing today: 'The guarded Egypt (Al-Mahrousa)' with its exceptional Al-Azhar related heritage, and Morocco with its great erg of deserts, in addition to Mali’s antiquities whose survival has played a substantial role in restoring this history, especially since the whole story begins when an English journalist decides to help his Malian friend to save whatever is left from the ISIS militants’ invasions.'It is as if the narrator uses his characters as a way to present the relationships between people and their way of living a century ago'.
