Die klare Unterscheidung zwischen analytischen und synthetischen Sätzen. Analytische Sätze sind allein aufgrund der verwendeten Teilausdrücke wahr, synthetische Sätze sind jedoch nur in Verbindung mit der Welt als wahr zu erkennen. II. reductionism, jede Theorie lässt sich in einzelne Aussagen zerlegen, die jede für sich (!) empirisch überprüft werden können. Die Motivation dieser Studienarbeit liegt darin, beide Annahmen des Empirismus zu beleuchten, Quines Argumentation präzise darzulegen und einer kritischen Überprüfung zu unterziehen. Gegen Ende wird Quines Holismus mit dem Ansatz I. Lakatos zur Methodologie wissenschaftlicher Forschungsprogramme verbunden.
