Criteria used forinclusion include range, tessitura, orchestral scoring, dramatic intensity, andcultural diversity. A cursory definition of the dramaticsoprano voice and its rise in operatic history is included. Information isprovided for each listing, including a brief biographical sketch of thecomposer and the work’s history and lyrics.
