Do YOU know why Santa comes down a chimney? Or what red spotted psychedelic amanita mushrooms have to do with Christmas? We borrowed the cadence from the beloved holiday poem- one certainly written by someone else than the author who gets all the credit- and added our own twist based on research on how these old traditions have stood the test of time despite thousands of years of minimization. And maybe we can tell a story to our children that does not feel like a huge lie anymore... Maybe our kids bring out the latent archaeologists in us that beg us to keep asking questions we stopped asking long ago. This new take on the poem hopefully gives us a version of the holiday season that can be celebrated by everyone. We can’t help but wonder, what thread took us here? Why’s there a man in a chimney, or flying reindeer? Why jingle the bells, or follow the cheerTo the land of the North with red mushrooms each year? Each December we see that we all can take partIn revering the past, with our loved ones in sight. We can join in together to mark this birthday Bridging oceans and eons; in our own special ways. Learn more at: twasthenightstory.com
