Tufts of Heather is a novel written by Edwin Waugh and first published in 1881. The story is set in the rural countryside of Lancashire, England, and follows the lives of several characters who live and work in the area. The main protagonist is a young woman named Nanny Rothwell, who is struggling to make ends meet after her father’s death. She is determined to keep the family farm running, but faces many challenges along the way.As the story unfolds, Nanny meets a young man named Robert, who she falls in love with. However, their relationship is complicated by the fact that Robert is from a wealthy family and his parents disapprove of their relationship. Despite this, Nanny and Robert continue to see each other and eventually marry.Throughout the novel, Waugh explores themes of love, class, and social inequality. He also provides a vivid and detailed portrayal of life in rural Lancashire during the late 19th century. Tufts of Heather is a compelling and engaging read that offers a fascinating glimpse into a bygone era. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
