Le tube à choc est un dispositif dans lequel une onde de choc normale est produite par l’interaction soudaine de fluides séparés par une différence de pression importante. Lorsque l’interaction se produit, une onde de choc se forme presque instantanément et se propage, tandis qu’une onde d’expansion se propage simultanément dans la direction opposée. La technique la plus couramment utilisée pour définir ces conditions initiales consiste à utiliser un diaphragme éclatant ; cependant, une vanne à grande vitesse permet de mieux contrôler ce phénomène. Dans ce cas particulier, une vanne à grande vitesse est utilisée pour générer l’onde de choc. Dans ce dispositif, des électrovannes sont placées à différents endroits pour contrôler le remplissage et le fonctionnement sûr du tube à choc. Le tube à choc est équipé de trois capteurs de pression. Ce dispositif particulier dispose d’un système informatisé d’acquisition de données. Le fonctionnement du tube à choc et de ses différents capteurs est programmé pour se déclencher automatiquement afin de recueillir les données de l’événement.
